This song being played in a doctrinally sound church for corporate worship? Potentially beneficial. This song being played in a Hillsong affiliated church? Not good.
Having said that, this song is salvageable in that when the proper theology is applied to the song, there is some merit in its lyric.
Everything that comes out of this “ministry” is suspect. Brian and his fellow preachers twist the Scriptures for shameful gain. Brian Houston is a false teacher, a wolf in the pulpit. It is an enemy to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Once we’ve rounded out the list of Popular songs on this site, our Evangelical Worship Edition will start looking at the “New Songs” list. It’s not a new song, but it’s probably going to be one of Hillsong’s most enduring songs. We’ll be looking at “Cornerstone” by Hillsong Worship.
